NEW YORK TELEVISION FESTIVAL New York, New York - USA October 19 to 24, 2015 Today in the Spotlight is the 11th Annual New York Television Festival (NYTVF), taking the lead in showcasing some of the best new talents in the ever evolving world of television. NYTVF in the last decade has successfully fostered its growing community of 15,000 independent creative artists by connecting them with leading networks, studios, agencies, production companies and brands. NYTVF has featured over 900 Officially-Selected TV pilots and web series across all genres and awarded over 3 million dollars (USD) in development funding from their network, studio, platform and brand partners. The annual Independent Pilot Competition, the NYTVF's flagship competition, accepts original TV pilots and series, short films, and web series in all genres from independent creators around the globe. In 2014 NYTVF organized hundreds of pitch and development meetings and facilitated 32 guaranteed development deals. Festival winner Ramiro Castro, Jr. who earned a development deal with truTV shares, "NYTVF is the best networking and showcase opportunity I have ever experienced as a filmmaker. Many fests promise meetings with production companies and networks - the difference is that NYTVF delivers and delivers in spades. NYTVF is single-handedly changing TV." Comedy-driven projects can earn extra attention at the festival with two highly coveted development opportunities up for competition with Comedy Central and truTV. Other opportunities for Comedy, Drama/Dramedy, Unscripted, and Short-Form Web Series qualifying projects including awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Writing, and Best Director. NYTVF is dedicated to ensuring all filmmakers have the opportunity not only to earn recognition but present their work to television's top industry players. Last year the event hosted featured events with top creatives including Jenni Konner (Girls), Carlton Cuse (Lost), and Beau Willimon (House of Cards ), as well as network events with Starz, CW Seed, MTV, BET, BBC and more. MISSION AND OBJECTIVE Founded in 2005, The NYTVF is a pioneer of the independent television movement, connecting its community of artists with leading networks, studios, agencies, production companies, and brands. MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL The festival has recently developed Executive Access, a program designed to put the independent content showcased at the festival in the hands of network, agency, and studio executives. Sponsors receive copies of all Official Selections and have the opportunity to identify the projects and artists with whom they would like to meet at the Festival. Executive Access is a streamlined interaction model to provide both artists and executives a space to network, build relationships, and collaborate on future projects.
