DAVID GOYA GONZALEZ & (SINCOPA)
David Goya Gonzalez is a leading pianist-arranger in Hartford Connecticut. I've had the pleasure of knowing him since 1979. In those days he worked with several Latin bands in the region. He also was the first solo pianist I witnessed perform at after hour house parties providing swinging mambos for dancers. We are featuring David's work over the next ten days in Salsa Magazine in honor of his contributions to the Latin Jazz scene in New England. He currently not only works in Hartford but is a frequent performer in Puerto Rico and is soon being featured right here in Ohio where I live. Vaya!
I have met many musicians since 1963. David Goya Gonzalez is among those who truly is infused with talent that transforms music into "the speech of angels." He is a respectful man. While many of us ran wild he maintained a center of spirituality that continues today as a servant of God.
In the past few years Latin Jazz has emerged as a leading voice in the music world. David Gonzalez and SINCOPA are a part of this movement. Although David Goya Gonzalez, born in Hartford, CT and initially a self taught musician, he has been playing Latin Jazz & Salsa for a number of years, SINCOPA is a group of musicians who have come on the scene in the past few years. The group is an ensemble of gifted musicians who have been influenced by some of the greats such as Frank Emilio, Papo Luca, The Legendary Armando Peraza, Israel (Cachao) Lopez, Tito Puente, Conjunto Libre, Machito, Ray Barreto, and Ruben Gonzalez.
David Gonzalez has performed with many artists including Jimmy Greene, Art Clinton's Komboloco, Ray Gonzalez Orchestra, Daniel Salazar Jr. and many others. David Gonzalez & SINCOPA represent a union of musical forces that delivers an exploration of Latin Jazz, by fusing the indigenous music of Cuba and Puerto Rico, and a unique and fresh approach that flirts with Fusion creating for some dynamics that set the tone for a musical journey that may start in La Zorra y el Cuervo in Cuba to The Parrot Club in Old San Juan, and end up in Birdland, NYC.
Gonzalez and Sincopa have currently released their first CD entitled "DREAMS". For United States and European Bookings Contact: SINCOPA, Andres Chaparro 860 597-6100Êor David Gonzalez (860) 965-9993
