What did I learn at Cardinal Hayes High School? My peers, all of us as far as I'm concerned, were Kennedy era products. I for one identified with the family. They were a large clan, they spoke with an accent and they stuck together when it came to their ambitions. Plus they had a renaissance perspective (as we were taught at Cardinal Hayes High School) to use all their talents as a way to put into action their plans. Yes they had their flaws but that is what made them human not perfect but human. It's in this fashion that I look forward to reuniting with my class mates in June for our 40th Anniversary of graduating from the school. Looking back on the days at the school I remember one interesting factor. We entered daily through the front doors where it said Cardinal Hayes School For Boys but departed every afternoon through the side doors which stated Cardinal Hayes School For Men. Oh what stories will be shared for every man who will be there is a universe of reflections. And I will have my recorder in hand to collect those reflections to set as poetry afterwards.
