Salsa Magazine's 4th Anniversary has brought about a wonderful addition to our family tree ESA VA!
David Forestier and David C. Forestier have shared with me photos of a part of our family (Providencia Chaluisant Forestier) that I had known about since 1977 when I met Nestor Torres at The New Rican Village where he played with Conjunto Libre and we discovered there was a family tie between the Chaluisant clan and Forestier Family.
There are no coincidences in life but blessed occurrences and such is the case I feel has happened after a near two hour conversation with David Forestier. It is like meeting a twin brother of another mother. It turns out not only are we related but that he attended Cardinal Hayes High School as well (class of '76-I am Class of '75). We both share a passion for reading and writing. Plus we have a deep commitment to archiving our families histories. Much respect that he went to Howard University while I attended Amherst College.. Plus there are many more unique aspects of his career that I have invited him to be part of the presentation in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on April 20, 2015 when I present my work for la Sociedad Autentica De Coleccionistas Musica Popular Oeste De P.R. arranged by Efrain Bayron Barbosa and Junior Cancel. Life is a beautiful thing when you receive such a blessing from God.
